When I saw a preview for the new "Predator" film, I rolled my eyes. Other than the first one, I've never been a fan of the franchise.
I waited a week and then I watched it with an open mind. Either way, a good discussion for our podcast.
The movie was OK. It had it's moments, but overall I didn't think it got through the "just another sequel" hurdle that brings down a great deal of these franchise driven films. I did like Elle Fanning. She always makes the most of every role she takes on and she's always fun to watch and it was also cool seeing some practical effects but some of the CGI didn't work for me and the "plot twists" were neither shocking or surprising! The ending was anti-climatic as all it really does is set-up the next sequel! That is another drawback for these franchises is that they always seem to be focused on teasing the next part of the story instead of focusing on making a great story.
