Poryes explained that Disney pitched him the idea of a show about a pop star, and he developed the concept of a teen leading a double life in his garage office in Los Angeles. Lead star Miley Cyrus then took Hannah Montana to great success, becoming a pop star in her own right. This clarification comes after Hilary Duff, star of Lizzie McGuire, hinted that her show and its movie may have influenced Hannah Montana's central plot.
