The heads of the studio behind KPop Demon Hunters have indicated that a sequel will not be ready until at least 2030. The animated film, released on Netflix last year, follows a K-pop girl group fighting demons and became the streamer’s most successful movie. Joint presidents of Sony Pictures Animation discussed the film’s success and potential sequel in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. The long production process for animated films makes a 2029 release date seem unlikely, but there are plans to expand on the rich world of the demons and pop star elements in the sequel. The film's success has led to awards recognition, with the singers performing at the BRIT Awards and Golden Globes.
