A first-generation iPod in a sealed, never-opened box sold for a record-breaking $40,264 at an auction by RR Auction. The original iPod was priced at $399 at launch in the U.S. in 2001 and was a key product in Apple's resurgence. The device was famously pitched by Steve Jobs as offering "1,000 songs in your pocket." Additionally, a sealed-in-box original iPhone with a rare 4GB of storage fetched $81,989 at the same auction.
