101 Greatest Film Performances of the 21st Century!

Here we go, another "Greatest of the 21st Century" list! This time from Ringer! They could've easily have said "The Greatest from the past 25 years", but I guess 21st Century sounds/looks better and it's good water cooler talk. It works! We're talking about it. Ringer's rules stated they had one rule: One Performance per actor! I'm totally going to disobey those rules and throw out my personal favorite performances from the 21st Century (so far). I'm only giving ten as not to go too overboard! I'm ranking mine in order of release year (2000-2025).
See Ringer's entire list by clicking here!

1. Tony Leung & Maggie Cheung- "In The Mood For Love" (2000) (Tony's performance is on Ringer's list too) Now these are two of the most subtle performances of all time (The entire film's theme is repression!). The subtle gestures, body language and looks of emotion that come across their faces! You can feel what they're feeling! This film is also on my top films from the past 25 years & on my top 250 all time favorite films! Watch a clip below.

2. Daniel Day-Lewis in "Gangs Of New York", "There Will Be Blood", "Ballad Of Jack & Rose", "Nine",  "Lincoln" & "Phantom Thread" (2002-2017) No one does prep work like the award winning Daniel Day-Lewis! He's an inspiration for anyone when it comes to fully diving into your work. Granted, "The Ballad Of Jack & Rose" & "Nine" are not the greatest films per se, but there's no denying how unforgettable he is in them! He became Bill The Butcher, Daniel Plainview (#2 on Ringer's list), Abraham Lincoln, etc. Watch him sing & dance below!

3. Cate Blanchett in multiple roles: "The Shipping News", "Heaven", "The Missing", "The Aviator", "Notes On A Scandal", "I'm Not There", "Blue Jasmine", "Carol", "Tár", etc.) (2001-2022) Cate Blanchett is one of the greatest actresses I've ever seen and she fully embraces every character and disappears into them, not unlike Daniel Day-Lewis but she doesn't do that the same way he does. See a clip of her amazing award winning work from "The Aviator" below.

I could go on & on of course! Like all lists, they're a great starting point in discovering new things, in this case cinema!
