The World Cinema Series continues at The Strand Theatre in Hudson Falls with a free screening of the French New Wave horror classic, "Eyes Without A Face" from 1960!
This is based on a novel of the same name from 1959. This was an international production that involved France & Italy! Pretty controversial at the time (it's still shocking 65 years later) and even though the European censors cleared it, there was still controversies and the critics were divided on it. The film aged liked fine wine and is now universally praised as one of the greatest and most influential horror films of all time!
For example, when John Carpenter was asked what inspired him for the use of a featureless mask for Michael Myers in "Halloween", he said: ""didn't have any money to make a mask. It was originally written the way you see it, in other words, it's a pale mask with human features, almost featureless. I don't know why I wrote that down, why Debra Hill and I decided on that, maybe it was because of an old movie called Eyes Without a Face."
Even the action genre! Critics noted the graphic detail of the face transplant scene in "Face/Off"
These are just a couple! It's one of my top 250 favorites as well! Just in time for Halloween too! If you're in the area, stop by and experience one of the scariest films ever made! FREE popcorn will be served too!
