My wife, Nicole & I had a date night at the movie theater in the Aviation Mall and we saw the thriller, "Relay" starring award winner, Riz Ahmed, Lily James & Sam Worthington. It's not a bad film and unfortunately the film tanked at the box office and is already out of theaters. Riz plays the part of this secret "fixer" of sorts who helps out whistleblowers fight back against big corporations and in this particular case, bring to light a major company that is hiding their "genetically modified wheat". The ways he communicates with these whistleblowers is through (to remain anonymous) a telecommunications device for the deaf via a relay service. Very interesting to a point. At an almost two hour running time, it felt dragged, especially since the film's plot twist seemed so obvious to me. The performances by Riz & Lily are the reason to watch this! Again, interesting premise using the relay service as a plot device, but this could've been executed in a 85-90 minute running time. It's a worthwhile time-killer though and it's bound to be streaming via digital on demand within a couple of weeks! Check out the trailer below!
