I'm always interested in checking out any new film that is not a remake, re-boot or sequel in theatres! Don't get me wrong, we do need those tentpole films, the comic book movie adaptations, etc. but it would be cool if we made room for independent films as well. To my surprise, this past weekend, the theatre in the Aviation Mall in Queensbury had this very small sci-fi horror film, "Run"! This film was directed by Chris Stokes and written by Stokes & Marques Houston. Very familiar plot where a bride-to-be has cold feet at the altar and decides to run away with her friends (bridesmaids) at a cabin in the middle of the woods and are attacked (like the rest of the world) by aliens!
This film has been trashed by viewers and critics everywhere. Although I find the film to be very predictable, 20 minutes too long, and does drag in spots, I liked the acting, it was fairly entertaining for the most part and had an interesting ending! This film will most likely be out of theatres by the end of the week. It is worth a one time watch at the very least.
