Body horror is a genre I'm not a huge fan of. There have been exceptions like "The Substance" last year and some of Cronenberg's films, but I don't have a lot of the genre in my collection and rarely re-visit a body horror film.

I saw the latest in the genre, Michael Shanks' film debut, "Together" inside the theatre at the Aviation Mall and literally saw it by myself as my wife is not a fan of the gore. You have real-life married actors Dave Franco and Alison Brie as a couple who move to the countryside and find themselves encountering a mysterious force that horrifically causes changes in their bodies. I did like how it put the spotlight on codependency in romantic relationships and how couples deal when their love falls into a rut . A topic not usually focused on in cinema. When the film focuses on this, it's interesting! The film unfortunately runs 30 minutes too long, falls apart at the finale and ends up being very anti-climatic. The focus isn't always on the couple, so that is the reason why this film doesn't 100% work!
The film does seem to have a fanbase, so if you're a fan of the subject matter and genre, you may enjoy this more than others.
