Twenty-five years to the day after its U.S. release, Britney Spears’ self-titled 2001 album is back. Britney (25th Anniversary Edition) arrives November 6, and it includes a song that has never left the vault.
That song is “My Big Secret,” produced by The Neptunes, the duo behind “I’m a Slave 4 U.” It’s being described as an R&B folk ballad, which is a sound nobody connects with 2001 Britney. Fans have known the title for years, and on November 6 everyone finally gets to hear it.
The set also makes three famous leaks official: “She’ll Never Be Me,” “Am I a Sinner,” and “When I Say So.” “She’ll Never Be Me,” which The AU Review says she co-wrote with Justin Timberlake, is already out. Britney released it this morning.
Britney was the album where she stopped being the teen idol. It gave us “I’m a Slave 4 U,” the python at the VMAs, “Overprotected,” and “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman.” It also kicked off the Dream Within a Dream Tour, which Britney calls her favorite tour.
Hear “She’ll Never Be Me” now. The full anniversary edition streams Friday, November 6.
