Liz Meriwether is set to write the screenplay for Universal's Britney Spears biopic, based on the singer's memoir "The Woman in Me." The project will be directed by Jon M. Chu and produced by Marc Platt. The memoir, which has sold over six million copies worldwide, chronicles Spears' journey from teenage stardom to her conservatorship battle. Meriwether, known for creating "New Girl," has earned Emmy nominations for her work in television. Universal's interest in music biopics has grown, with a Snoop Dogg film already in production. Spears signed a fifteen million dollar book deal for her memoir in 2022.
