World’s Priciest Cheese Sells for $42,232 at Auction

A Cabrales cheese aged in a cave for 10 months set a Guinness World Record when it was auctioned for $42,232 after receiving top marks in a competition in Spain. Created by Ángel Díaz Herrero cheese factory, the 5-pound cheese made with cow's milk was purchased by restaurant El Llagar de Colloto. The Regulatory Council DOP Cabrales named it the "Best Cheese of the Competition" before it was sold at auction. Guinness World Records declared it the most expensive cheese ever sold at auction, as it was aged for 10 months in the Los Mazos cave, nearly 5,000 feet above sea level.
